So as always I read the reviews. I am happy with the look. Matt black much better than my old stainless steel one which conked out after 20 years of good service.. Well I could have kept using it had I been prepared to stand with my hand on the down lever. Much less wiping required on this one I feel.Was slightly scared when it said to switch it on at power six with nothing in it to “cure the new elements” but all good – flat still standing. No fires. Did anyone else follow those instructions? I saw no mention of that in the reviews.Put my largest slice of bread in sideways afterwards and it fitted perfectly. Can’t comment on the quality of the toast as old bread and I had already eaten dinner by then so not hungry. Looked and felt fine though. Will I reheat it in the morning? Probably not. Sorry – food wastage but I could not help trying it out.I can see that the apertures are wide enough to take crumpets and other such things so all in all I am very happy with it.

My kitchen is grey, white & black, so colour is perfect fit. So easy to use and can use proper think slices of bread without squashing it in. Was surprised that it was plastic on the outside and only realised when I went to put a fridge magnet on it as definitely doesn’t look like plastic but makes it easier to keep clean. Thank you
